The Namibian Port Authority was dealt a blow recently when its tugboat, Omanda, sank whilst alongside the Merlus fishing factory jetty in the port of Walvis Bay. The tugboat crew had apparently reported that the vessel was taking on water in the engine room and was listing to the starboard side. The crew disembarked safely and there was no damage to third party property. The cause of the incident is unknown and an investigation is underway.
