South African Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana, and his deputy, Bheki Cele, met captains of the fishing industry

at a breakfast hosted by the Department and FishSA in Cape Town yesterday. It was the first time that the new minister has met and mingled with stakeholders.


In his speech he announced that the long term rights in the nine sectors of the fishing industry due to expire during the course of 2015, would be extended to 28 February 2016 by which time he said he was confident that the systems and processes in his Department would be in place to issue new long term rights for all fishing sectors.
